My work at ComauPico was primarily as Sr. Baan Systems Administrator and Oracle DBA. I maintained the Baan and Oracle systems on a 24x7 on-call basis. I wrote and maintained system and application monitoring programs across all systems. I wrote shell scripts and PL/SQL programs to automate repetitive tasks. I managed security, upgrades, patching backup and recovery of the Baan and Oracle systems. My duties also included meeting with end users to determine system requirements and researching new products, software and new methods for doing business.
Along with my administration duties I did some development, including designing and coding Pro*C programs to run an internal homegrown barcode scanning system using Intermec scanners. This design had to take into account installation, setup and maintenance of 45 Oracle-NT databases, barcode scanners and networking. Another project involved developing PL/SQL code for use with Oracle 9i AS to create a CRM website.
